2 February 1977: A Historic Day in the Educational History of Kaladab

A remarkable original document has emerged recording an important milestone in the educational history of Kaladab.

This surviving page from the old school register contains a handwritten note dated 2 February 1977, documenting the day on which Primary School Kaladab was formally taken under government control.

The historic entry reads:

In English:

“On 2 February 1977, Primary School Kaladab was formally taken over by the Government. A government teacher named Muhammad Ramzan was appointed as Primary Teacher, and today, 2 February 1977, he reported for duty at the school at 9:00 a.m. Therefore, these few words are being recorded as a memorandum of the occasion.”

This simple handwritten entry is an invaluable primary historical record. It preserves not merely a date, but the exact moment when an important transition took place in Kaladab’s educational history: 2 February 1977, when the primary school formally came under government administration and Muhammad Ramzan reported for duty as a government-appointed teacher.

Nearly half a century later, this fragile page allows us to look directly into that day. Such documents give substance to our local history, preserving names, dates and events that might otherwise survive only through oral memory.

Kaladab.com expresses its sincere gratitude to Usman Freed for sharing this invaluable piece of our heritage. By bringing documents like this into the public record, we can preserve the history of Kaladab for our children and for generations yet to come.

An old page, a few handwritten lines — but an important chapter in the history of Kaladab.
